Connect an AI

Choose between the subscription you already pay for or your own API key. The IDE and its rules stay the same.

Yuli has two AI modes. The only thing that changes is who does the reasoning; the IDE, its panels and its rules are the same.

Subscription mode Platform mode
Who reasons Your own Claude Code, Kiro, Codex or Antigravity Yuli's engine (Yuli Platform)
Who pays Your current subscription The API key of the provider you choose
How it uses the IDE yuli_* tools over MCP Built-in tools
Rules Generated by Yuli for each agent, with hooks The engine's prompts and guards

A freshly installed IDE starts in Subscription mode.

Choose who you work with

Above the chat there is a single selector: Who do you work with?

Group Options
Your subscription · your account Claude Code, Kiro, Codex, Antigravity
With your API key Yuli Platform

Each agent keeps its own session. If one is working, the switch waits until it finishes.

You can also choose it in Global options → AI and models → AI mode:

  • Platform mode or Subscription mode.
  • Agent: Claude Code, Kiro, Codex or Antigravity.
  • Choose the mode for this project only: when enabled, the choice applies only to the open project. Otherwise, it is the value for all projects.

With your subscription

Agent Your account Guide
Claude Code Claude (Pro, Max or Console) Claude Code
Kiro AWS Builder ID, Google or GitHub Kiro, Codex and Antigravity
Codex ChatGPT Kiro, Codex and Antigravity
Antigravity Google Kiro, Codex and Antigravity

General steps:

  1. Install the agent with its official installer. Yuli detects it; it never downloads or redistributes it.
  2. Read the initial notice and continue.
  3. Sign in yourself, using the agent's official flow.
  4. Type your request.

By default, Yuli writes nothing to your project: its configuration is handed to the agent when it starts.

Yuli never touches your credentials or uses API keys in this mode. Whatever your agent reads travels to its provider under your account, just as it would outside Yuli.

With your API key

  1. Open the model settings: chat header → More actions → Model settings.
  2. Choose the provider: Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, xAI, DeepSeek, Local, AWS Bedrock or Vertex AI.
  3. Enter your API key and the model.
  4. Click Test connection and Save settings.

The key is stored in the system keychain and is always shown masked. Details in Models and providers.

No cloud connection? Use Local with Ollama, LM Studio, vLLM or llama.cpp: the context never leaves your network.
